Parasailing over Maunalua Bay in Hawaiʻi Kai
- 45 minutes to 1 hour (approx.)
Overview
H2O Sports Hawaii has been taking families parasailing on Maunalua Bay in Hawaiʻi Kai since 1986, about 25 minutes from Waikīkī along the H-1. After checking in at the office in the Hawaiʻi Kai Shopping Center, a shuttle boat takes you out to the company's floating activity platform in a permitted stretch of the bay. From there you board a boat built for parasailing, with six guests or fewer including observers, so there is little waiting between flights. Guests usually fly two at a time on a 600-foot tow line, launching from and landing back in the boat, and spend about six minutes in the air with views of Diamond Head, Koko Head, Koko Crater and the Koʻolau Range. Most flyers get a quick dip in the bay just before landing, and the crew will try to keep you dry if you ask. The company records video of every flight, and photos and video can be bought at its media center back at the office. Friends and family who would rather stay on deck can come along as observers.

Additional Info
- Check in at the H2O Sports Hawaii office, Hawaiʻi Kai Shopping Center, 377 Keahole St. E103, Honolulu, HI 96825 (free parking). Your reservation time is your check-in time; a shuttle boat then takes you to the activity platform, and some waiting for your group may be needed.
- Parasailers must be at least 8 years old and weigh at least 50 lb; the maximum weight in the parachute is 450 lb (both subject to wind conditions), and larger guests may need a solo flight. Pregnant guests cannot take part. The tour includes boat-to-boat transfers. No alcohol, drugs or marijuana vape pens.
- The boat carries up to six people including observers, and flights are usually tandem. With an odd number in your party, the captain decides whether someone flies twice, flies solo, or three fly together, and you may fly with another party; the decision depends on weight and weather.
- Bring a swimsuit, towel, reef-safe sunscreen and drinking water. Apply sunscreen at the dock: spray sunscreen may not be used on any boat. There is a small space for personal belongings on the parasail boat; cameras can be taken up at your own risk.
- Other activities (jet ski, banana boat, bumper tube) start from the same platform and can be added at check-in when space is available; observers may upgrade to parasailing when space allows.
- In inclement weather (high winds, storms or unsafe ocean conditions) the operator may reschedule or cancel your trip, and affected guests get a full reschedule or refund. The operator's public pages state no customer cancellation window.
- Contact H2O Sports Hawaii at +1 (808) 396-0100 or info@h2osportshawaii.com. The office is open Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., except holidays.
