Waikiki Sail & Snorkel Tour at Turtle Canyon
- 2 hours (approx.)
Overview
Sail from the Ala Wai Boat Harbor aboard Hokulani, Three Tiki Sailing's spacious and stable three-hull trimaran, to Turtle Canyon, one of the best-known snorkel spots off Waikiki. The reef is a natural cleaning station where Hawaiian green sea turtles wait for reef fish to clean their shells, so turtles are seen there on nearly every trip, along with tropical fish and coral. The crew guides the group in the water and provides masks, snorkels and fins. After snorkeling the crew raises the sails for the trip back to the harbor, with views of Diamond Head and the Honolulu skyline. The trimaran has plenty of seating and shade, two restrooms, complimentary bottled water and a large cooler for your own canned drinks (BYOB, no glass). Guests who prefer not to swim can come along on an observer ticket and enjoy the sail from the deck. The tour comes with the operator's turtle guarantee.

Additional Info
- Meeting point: the Three Tiki Sailing check-in at the Ala Wai Boat Harbor, 95 Holomoana St, Honolulu, HI 96815, next to the Prince Waikiki hotel. Look for the Three Tiki Sailing signs at the entrance of Pau Hana Place and wait at the sign by the dock for a crew member. Arrive 30 minutes before departure. Use the street address for directions: searching "Three Tiki Sailing" in a ride app leads to the mailing address, not the dock. Paid harbor parking is available. This booking does not include transportation.
- Every ticketed guest must sign an individual waiver before boarding, and the QR ticket from the confirmation email is scanned at check-in.
- Tickets: adult (ages 13 and up), child (ages 3 to 12) and observer (ages 3 and up, stays on the boat and does not swim). This booking covers guests aged 3 and up. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
- Snorkelers need basic swimming ability. The crew cannot teach swimming, and anyone the crew judges unsafe in the water is asked back to the boat; the operator says it then refunds the difference to the observer ticket. Guests who are not comfortable swimming should book the observer ticket.
- Turtle guarantee: the operator guarantees that sea turtles will be present at Turtle Canyon. If no guest on your trip sees a turtle, every guest is offered one free return snorkel tour, to be used within 7 days and subject to availability. Not every individual guest is guaranteed to see a turtle, as visibility, ability and participation vary. The guarantee has no cash value, is non-transferable and gives no refunds. Other marine life, such as dolphins, is wild and not guaranteed.
- What to bring: reef-safe sunscreen (no spray sunscreen), sunglasses, a hat, a towel, a long-sleeve layer depending on the weather, a camera and shoes that are easy to take off (no shoes are worn on board). You may bring your own mask, snorkel and fins. Bring your own drinks and snacks if you like; no glass bottles. Guests must be 21 or older to have alcohol. Drones are not allowed on board. Storage on board is limited, so pack light.
- Accessibility: guests must be able to step onto the boat with minimal assistance, so the tour is not suitable for guests with significant mobility limitations. Space for wheelchairs and strollers is very limited. Tell the crew about young children at check-in so a child-size life jacket is ready. Expecting mothers are welcome after checking with their doctor. Guests prone to seasickness may want to bring ginger candies; the crew cannot provide medication.
- If the operator cancels a trip because of the weather, it helps you reschedule or issues a full refund. Tips are not included; 15-20% is customary.
