Overview

Fly above Oʻahu's south shore with X-Treme Parasail, a family-run watersports company operating from Kewalo Basin Harbor, about 10 to 15 minutes from the Waikīkī hotels, since 2003. After checking in at the booth, you board a shared boat (up to 15 guests) and head out along the coast. Guests take turns being launched from the back of the boat, usually two or three at a time, and rise on the tow line for wide views of Waikīkī Beach, Diamond Head and the coastline before being reeled back in. Choose the line length that suits you: Standard (700 feet), Deluxe (850 feet) or X-treme (1,000 feet); longer lines mean more time in the air. Friends and family who would rather stay on deck can ride along as observers. The crew offers an optional DSLR photo package on board, and the operator notes that mornings usually have the calmest conditions.

   Check-in at Kewalo Basin Harbor

   Check in at the X-Treme Parasail booth at Slip F-1, 1025 Ala Moana Blvd (the booth with a jet ski on top), at least 30 minutes before departure. Adults sign their own waivers and those of minors in their care.

   Boat ride along the south shore

   Board the parasail boat with up to 15 guests and cruise out from the harbor while the crew prepares the flights.

   Parasail flight

   Take turns launching from the boat in pairs or threes and rise on your chosen tow line for views over Waikīkī, Diamond Head and the coastline; observers watch from the deck.

4. 4

   Return to the harbor

   Once everyone on board has flown, the boat returns to Kewalo Basin Harbor.

• Check in at the X-Treme Parasail booth, Kewalo Basin Harbor, 1025 Ala Moana Blvd, Slip F-1, Honolulu, at least 30 minutes before your departure. The boat leaves at the booked time and does not wait for late arrivals; late arrivals and no-shows are charged in full. Allow about 1.5 hours from check-in to your return to the booth.
• Parasailers must be at least 5 years old, with adult supervision for minors. Pregnant guests cannot ride on the boat or parasail, and the operator cannot fly anyone susceptible to heart problems. Flights are tandem or triple only (never single), and combined weight limits apply; the captain and crew decide the pairings on the boat according to the weather. Anyone on the boat who is not parasailing, including children under 5, needs an Observer ticket.
• Book everyone who wants to fly together on the same line length (the operator does not combine different line lengths in one flight). Groups booked separately or under different names should contact the operator before the activity to be placed on the same boat; boats carry up to 15 guests, and larger parties are split.
• Wear a swimsuit, board shorts, rash guard or anything you are happy to get wet; life jackets are provided. Bring sunscreen. There are no lockers at the harbor; small items can go in the compartment under the boat seating. Anyone prone to seasickness should take precautions before the trip.
• Parking is limited at Kewalo Basin Harbor: the paid lots across from the booth are paid by phone via QR code. Do not park in the yellow or red stalls next to company booths.
• Cancellations for up to five guests must be made at least 48 hours before the activity, and for six or more guests at least 72 hours before; later cancellations, same-day cancellations and no-shows are not refunded. Rescheduling any part of a party costs a per-person fee. If the operator cancels for weather, guests are offered a full refund or a reschedule.
